Suburb Profile - BURSWOOD

(Hit view to change selection)

Burswood is derived from "Burrs-Wood", the name given to his property by Henry Camfield, the original land holder of the area. The current spelling of "Burswood" is the result of a spelling error by the men who painted the sign for the first railway station in the area.

The Burswood Peninsula is situated on the picturesque Swan River, boasting more than 2.5 hectares of parks, gardens, lakes and recreational areas, along with residential towers, executive townhouses and luxury apartments with on-site pools, barbeque areas, playground equipment and a popular restaurant and café on site. Just four minutes from the Perth CBD, the Peninsula’s central location is just a stroll away from an incredible array of sporting, recreation and leisure facilities, including the world-class Crown Entertainment Complex, the State Tennis Centre, Burswood Park and the future Perth Stadium.

Crown Perth offers a wonderful array of facilities and activities, including two excellent hotels, a casino, convention centre and a stunning theatre that showcases many of the world’s top acts and musical productions. In addition, Crown’s many restaurants and bars provide an endless choice of venues including Nobu, Rockpool, Guillaume, Modo Mio and Silks.

The new Perth Stadium and Sports Precinct development due for completion in 2018 heralds a new and exciting chapter in Burswood’s history.

Transport access around Burswood, particularly to the CBD, is excellent with easy access to the Graham Farmer Freeway and Great Eastern Highway, with the Burswood train station offering a regular service day and night. And for travellers and visitors, both the International and Domestic airports are an easy 15 minute cab ride away.
